FakFil writes First Lyrics!

It was like a play. I was on a casual visit to a relative's place. Her children were a bit interesting, and for the fact that I am a young poet, they tried to see my wits. The eldest daughter asked me to write something about love.
I was like, "Love? I haven't written anything about love in weeks. The only thing that has been connecting me to love was WestLife", I replied. But I rethought: "if this is a local impromptu request, what if I'm confronted with a bigger one?"
So I asked for a plain sheet and a pencil, and before I got the items, I managed to guess what my first lines would be. It was like a melodrama. All three sisters were on audition, waiting for my commencement so they can applaud, or dissuade.
So I started:

"I feel like I'm in love, O my baby.
I don't know why you left, O my baby.
I still long for your love, O my baby.
You never cared I was hurt, O my baby.
I don't know how I felt, O my baby.
As you did run away, O my baby.
But now tonight I found rest, O my baby.
I thank God for His peace in my life, yeah..."

It was like they were not yet satisfied with what I wrote. So the last sister said, "and you call yourself FakFil?" I was enraged, embittered, that I couldn't show off the meaning of my name to my cousin, even if it were my official nickname. With anger, I thought about the meaning of FakFil. "Fix A Kiss, Fall In Love".
So I continued:

"It was back in '99, I was working all around the clock,
My friends thought I was fine, yeah, my spirit hung under the rocks.
I thought, thought and thought, I kept thinking in my mind,
Till the clocked ticked 9 that night, I was up under the skies.
Yeah I fought, fought and fought, till my strength hung down the lines,
I was screaming in my mind, I was feeling like I'm sad.
There was something from behind, like a cup of tasteless love,
Which kept tearing me apiece, sending cold air down my spine,
Days of love, days of joy, kept on ringing in my mind,
For I long just once again, hope to hold you in my arms.
Days of fights, days of tears, held me speechless, I was sad,
For I long now to see, how I'll hold you in my arms,
But the longer you said "NO", I don't know how I flow;
I was left hypnotized, all alone...
Now tonight I am here, I am flying without wings,
I'm so glad I found rest, and I'm feeling happy!"

I thank God for His peace in my life, yeah.."

"Well it;s true what I see, you're the only girl that makes me trip,
For the first day we met, I was really feeling like I'm spelled,
So why now o why, would you steal my love away,
O I cannot think or work, 'tis a job for me to play,
O I try not to cry, but I'm feeling like a fool,
For I played the gentleman, yet you left me, hey so soon...
Baby now I have learnt not to trust or lean on love,
For the more of love you see, is the more neglect you feel,
I will rise to my feet from the pieces I was left,
You are now history, thanks for teaching me your best.
O my God, I am here, in Your Holy Place to pray,
You can bring me back to life, once again...
Now tonight I am here, and I'm flying without wings,
I'm so glad I found rest, and I'm feeling happy...

I thank God for His peace in my life, yeah.."

By the time I finished my lines, I was refreshed in the brain. Infact, I didnt know where the tune came from,. and suddenly, the lyrics became a song. My cousins applauded me, and I felt like fulfilled.

ABOUT FAKFIL

About FakFil
The Story Behind the Name

I’m Fakunle Philip Temitayo, better known online as FakFil. I’m a 31‑year‑old native of Oyan, raised in the vibrant city of Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. By day I work in production tech; by night I’m a songwriter, poet, and avid traveler who’s always hunting the next story to tell.

---

Roots & Education
My journey began in the bustling neighborhoods of Osogbo, where I spent my early years hopping between Good Tidings Nursery & Primary School and God’s Success International Nursery & Primary School before landing at Fakunle Comprehensive High School. I completed my secondary education at Ataoja High School of Science, earning both my WASSCE and NECO certificates.

Driven by a fascination for how things work, I pursued a Higher National Diploma and an Ordinary National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede (2010‑2016). A MTN Science & Technology Scholarship in 2012 gave me a solid boost, and I wrapped up my formal studies with the mandatory National Youth Service Corps—first in Dakingari, Kebbi State, and later in Ogun State.

---

Professional Path
My career kicked off with a four‑month SIWES stint at the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, followed by a year‑long industrial training at Procter & Gamble Nigeria Ltd., which was extended by six months. In 2015 I joined Kimberly‑Clark Sub‑Sahara West Africa as a Technical Operator, a role I held until 2019.

A brief but rewarding spell at Promasidor Nigeria Ltd. (blending section of Onga cubes) led me to Wemy Industries Ltd. in January 2020, where I’ve grown from Production Technician to Team Lead and Production Supervisor. My focus is simple: make the job easier for my teammates so we can all hit our targets together.

---

Creative Side
When I’m not on the factory floor, you’ll find me exploring new cities—Oyo, Ogun, Rivers, Kebbi, Kwara, and beyond—because travel fuels my curiosity. I love cooking (yes, I’m the family’s go‑to chef) and I’m always happy to share a recipe or two.

Music and words have been my constant companions. I’ve written over 50 songs, with “Motor yii gbe” (released 2016, produced by Don Tee) being a personal favorite. Poetry flows just as freely; you can catch some of my verses on my blog. I’m a self‑taught guitarist and enjoy turning everyday moments into melodies.

---

Personal Philosophy
Honesty, transparency, and flexibility guide my decisions. I steer clear of stinginess, lying, and insolence—qualities I’ve seen drain energy from any team. Gambling has been a tough habit; it’s taken a lot of hard‑earned money since 2015, and I’m actively working on kicking it for good.

I’m a proud Christian who calls Deeper Life Bible Church my spiritual home. I’m on the lookout for a kind‑hearted, hardworking lady who shares my faith and values.

---

Looking Forward
Life’s a blend of challenges and opportunities, and I’m committed to turning every experience into growth. Whether it’s a new production process, a fresh song, or an unexplored road, I’m all in.
